Dimension Films: The Horror OOP Vault That Changed Everything

Dimension Films was Dimension Entertainment Group’s genre division — the label that took horror seriously when major studios wouldn’t. They released everything from Scream sequels to Japanese horror to obscure cult films. Their catalog is legendary. Most of it is now impossible to find.

What Was Dimension?

Dimension was part of Miramax. They distributed genre films that mainstream divisions rejected — horror, exploitation, cult cinema. Dimension said yes. They also released theatrical films on DVD with special packaging, restored, remastered, packaged carefully. Their releases were events for collectors.

Why Dimension Disappeared

Dimension closed. Their catalog was absorbed into parent companies. The DVDs and Blu-rays they released went out of print and never came back. Streaming services don’t have most titles. Finding a Dimension release in good condition is now a genuine hunt.

The Archive That Vanished

Dimension’s releases represent a moment when genre distributors could take risks and do it carefully. That era is over. If you find a Dimension release, grab it — these are the only copies that matter.
